4/1/11 ~ Tonight's Varsity baseball
game has been moved to Riverbend. Game time 6:00. JV's to be made up
at a later date. Riverbend will travel to Massaponax on May 03.
March 29 - Riverbend 10 Colonial Forge 5
~ Nathaniel Traugh went six strong innings
against a very good Colonial Forge team. He also helped his cause with
his third HR of the year. Zac Naccarato had a big blow delivering a
bases clearing double in the 4th. Garrett Rioux lead the game off for
Riverbend with his first high school HR. He added two singles and a
stolen base later. The Bears will travel to Massaponax on Friday,
April 1st at 6:00PM **** Weather could cause this game to be
moved to Riverbend and they would go to Massaponax on May 3. Please

March 25 - Riverbend 11 Stafford 10
~ Slugfest!!! Riverbend and Stafford
opened Commonwealth District play with a slugfest. Stafford took a 6-0
lead after two innings aided by 4 walks and 2 Riverbend errors. The
Bears came storming back with 5 of their own in the third. Stafford
jumped back up 8-5 in the top of the 4th. Nathaniel Traugh then tied
it up with a three run HR in the bottom of the 4th. He was followed by
a sharp single by Zac Naccarato and then a 2 out double by Clay Massie for
the Bear's first lead at 9-8. Stafford scratched two more runs in the
5th to go back up 10-9. Finally, in the bottom of the 6th, with key
hits by Naccarato and Massie, the Bears reclaimed the lead 11-10.
Nathaniel Traugh had a shut down 7th inning to seal the victory. The
Bears travel to Commonwealth District power Colonial Forge on Tuesday, March
29 at 6PM.
March 22 - Riverbend 5 Courtland 12
~ The string of error free baseball games
came to an end in a big way. The Bears booted 4 balls and Courtland
was swinging a hot bat to add to the frustration as Riverbend dropped a
non-district game to Courtland. Taylor Fennewald hit his first HR of
the season to pace the Bears. Riverbend will open up District play
Friday night 3/25 against Stafford. Game time 6PM.
March 19 - Riverbend 7 Greenbrier 5
~ Riverbend capped off the 2011 Bash at the
Bend with an exciting win over Greenbrier Christian (Cesapeake, VA).
The boys from the 'Bend' came out swinging it early and put up 7 runs in the
first two innings. Then they played great defense and held on for the
7-5 win. Garrett Rioux, Derek Gallello, and Nathaniel Traugh had two
hits a piece to pace Riverbend. Traugh went the distance on the mound
striking out 9 for his first win of the season. The Bears are back in
action Tuesday, March 22nd against Courtland. Game time 4:30pm
March 19 - Riverbend 11 King Gorge 1
~ Riverbend opened up the Bash at the Bend
with an impressive 11-1 victory over King George. Dylan Snelson gave
up only 1 hit over 5 innings for the win. Garrett Rioux was 3 for 3 on
the day, while Derek Gallello added two more hits. The biggest
offensive explosion came from Nathaniel Traugh with his 4th inning Grand
Slam!
March 15 - Riverbend 8 Courtland 4
~ Riverbend opened the 2011 season with a
victory over a very solid Courtland baseball team. Derek Gallello,
Nick Gianforte, and Zac naccarato all had two hits for the Bears. Four
pitchers combined for the victory. Dylan Snelson picked up the win in
relief. The Bears will meet up with non-district opponents King George
and Greenbrier Christian on Saturday the 19th in the opening weekend's Bash
at the Bend.
Feb. 26 ~ First scrimmage of the year. Please come out and
support the team Varsity gets going at 1:00PM
